Accommodation in Paphos

Reviews of where to say in the area

As im only reviewing personal experiences i can only discuss the following two apartments.

Tasmaria Apartments (based on 2 weeks self catering in studio - july 07)

Located 20 minutes from the harbour, the Tasmaria Aparments are in a well situated area. Just 10 minutes walk from the Tomb of the Kings, guests have almost immediate access to one of the most fascinating areas in the whole of Paphos. On a lively street full of bars and restaurants, you have everything you need for the perfect self-catering holiday. There are many reasons to spend a few days relaxing by the pool, the welcoming friendly staff, big screen tv and pool tables. For those homesick amongst you there is an internet cafe over the road, aswell as Pizza hut and KFC within 3 minutes walk. By night, the area is very relaxed with the faint sounds of kareoke and cypriot music filling the air.

Good Points -
- Very spacious
- Big built in wardrobe
- Comfy sofa and beds
- Nice sized bathroom
- Clean and tidy with good maid service
- A well maintained swimming pool that was very popular! Plenty of sun loungers around the pool.
- Pool bar was always open. Very friendly staff with a wide range of drinks and snacks available throughout the day. The bar stays open aslong as guests wish to drink which adds to the nice atmosphere as you can end up chatting the night away and making friends.

Bad Points -
- Having to pay for air conditioning (we ended up saving money by buying a large fan in the supermarket next to Debenhams)
- Bulky key used for power to your room. Quite annoying if you have to carry it around in your pocket.
- No electronic safe in room, have to use key (not a major issue really).
- Tasmaria's restaurant 'The Island Blue' wasn't very busy but it had just recently opened and has alot of competition.

Surrounding area -
Within five minutes walk of the apartment you will find everything you need so you can have an assured and relaxed holiday. An Internet cafe, Booking offices for day trips, Chemist, a number of small Supermarkets, Quad bike hire, Car hire and plenty of places to have an afternoon drink.
There is a local beach thats fine for sunbathing but not ideal for swimming. You also have watersports nearby

Conclusion: An ideal place to stay for young couples and families who want to be out and about. Everything you could possibly need on a self catering holiday is just yards away. The rooms were perfectly fine, the staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay.

Please visit the excellent Tasmaria website for more information, plus many pictures.

Pandream Apartments (based on self catering studio apartments, 1 week in october)

The Pandream Apartments are situated at the other side of town close to the waterpark. As with the Tasmaria apartments, everything you need is on your doorstep. This end of town is a little more quiet as the street is lined with very large all-inclusive hotels. Head towards the harbour if you want a more lively atmosphere.

Good Points -
- Nice spacious room with radio in the headboard (for those wishing to listen to Cyprus radio).
- Free air conditioning with a number of settings.
- Electronic safe
- Keycard used to supply power to your room. Easy to carry can fit in your wallet.
- A nice pool with gym, sauna and games room down stairs (weren't open in october)
- Nice apartment owned restaurant with big screen TV and very nice menu. Staff very friendly!
- On a peaceful street with easy access to the beach.
- Close proximity to attractions such as the waterpark and mini-golf/karting center.
- TV available if you wish (not much point tho as BBC world was the only channel i could understand).

Bad Points -
- The rooms at the very back near the tennis courts had thin walls. Could hear talking and coughing from the rooms opposite.
- Nice big bath but took forever to fill. The plumbing made a right noise when the taps were fully on so had to use shower head to fill the bath up.
- Located near large hotel which always have a Kareoke running during the day so if your wanting a midday siesta, make sure you lock up the patio doors.
- When we visited in october, the pool bar never opened even when the pool was busy with guests.
- Unless you can find the lightswitches, the corridors on the groundfloors are very dark.

Conclusion: Again, another ideal place to stay for couples and young families. Situated in a quieter area of town, during the peak months of the year the apartments have much more to offer.
